During the Middle Age period, as the Black Plague rages across 14th century Europe, one courageous Knight Lavey (Nicolas Cage), was instructed by the dying Cardinal (Christopher Lee) to take a girl (Claire Foy) accused for being a witch who caused the pandemic to trial. Knight Lavey just came home from decades of fierce battles in the East. Joining him in his new mission is his most trusted and loyal friend, Felson (Ron Perlman). They were to bring the suspected witch in a distant monastery where monks will do some rituals that they believe could stop the destructive epidemic. Later, Lavey will be convinced that the girl is wrongly accused. To prove her innocence, Lavey and a group of suspicious followers will fight through a mystical and deceitful landscape to a holy land that could free the girl from accusations and eventually lift Europe’s curse.
